Biotechnology Innovation Clusters in Germany

Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI) is delighted to invite you to a tour of key biotech clusters in Germany immediately prior (November 6-10) to the BIO-EUROPE trade show in Hamburg.

The Pre-BIO-Europe Tour will provide an exclusive opportunity for Japanese companies interested in establishing contact with potential German partners and suppliers or seeking to locate to Europe’s most important biotech market. German companies and representatives from biotech clusters and government agencies will be on hand to present cooperation and partnership opportunities.

GTAI will arrange all logistics, transportation and accommodation requirements during the tour. Attendees are only responsible for their own travel to Berlin, connection from Dresden to Hamburg and departure from Germany.

Tour Highlights:

An important prelude to the tour is the 3rd German-Japanese Dialogue on Biotechnology that will be held at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin. You are invited to exchange ideas on how to foster cooperation and partnership opportunities with representatives from politics, clusters and industry.

The program then takes in the renowned life-science industry cluster of Berlin and Brandenburg, HealthCapital, which is home to more than 230 biotech companies and 40 scientific institutions including Europe’s largest university hospital, Charité, and numerous business incubators and accelerators. In the evening you will have the chance to find more about the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where the number of life-sciences companies has tripled since 2000. Moreoever, the healthcare sector contributes more than a quarter of the state GDP.

Day two begins at the Weinberg Campus Technology Park – an outstanding innovation location for life and material sciences in the city of Halle (Saale) with more than 100 companies and institutes. There, we will also meet the Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt. At our next stop in Leipzig, a further highlight will be BIO CITY LEIPZIG, one of the most modern centers for biotechnology and biomedicine in Germany. Both biotech locations offer excellent conditions for start-ups and new companies.

biosaxony, Saxony’s biotechnology association, and the Saxony Economic Development Corporation will welcome us in the world-famous city of Dresden on day three. Around 50 Saxon biotechnology companies are particularly active in the fields of molecular bioengineering, bioinformatics, nanobiotechnology, and pharmacogenetics.
