Abstract ‘Next generation manufacturing technologies - A Fraunhofer perspective‘

Additive Manufacturing methods are considered key technologies regarding the demands of global trends like an individual, flexible and resource efficient production. Increase of efficiency of individualized production processes can only be achieved by digitalizing the whole value chain. In this regard additive manufacturing methods and technologies can make a huge contribution.

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the largest organization for applied research in Europe, is active in many fields of additive manufacturing. Innovative project examples highlighting its potentials will be shown in the presentation as well as challenges that have to be met to make a profitable use of it.
