On Thursday, December 7, 2017, Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) and its partners welcomed around 50 guests for an exclusive “ICT Cluster Opportunities in Eastern Germany” investor event at The LaLiT New Delhi.

The new federal states of Germany have developed into an ICT hotspot with a number of powerful industry clusters connecting players from industry, research and academia. The German ICT market is the second largest in Europe. Industrie 4.0 and the digitalization of the economy are important market drivers. Sustainable, high growth rates are expected for Industrie 4.0 in Germany, which also provides promising business opportunities for Indian companies.

We were honored that the German Ambassador Dr. Martin Ney opened our event. Then, Dr. Jürgen Friedrich, CEO, GTAI, welcomed the guests and emphasized Indo-German business relations and the attractiveness of the new federal states as business locations.

In addition to providing insights into current trends and business opportunities in the field of Industrie 4.0 in Germany, Asha-Maria Sharma, Senior Manager Investor Consulting, GTAI, highlighted how GTAI can support foreign companies in doing business in Germany.

With the example of the Berlin-Brandenburg region, which is home to a number of clusters including a strong ICT one, Markus Facklam (Airport Region Berlin Brandenburg) underlined the attractiveness of Eastern Germany as a business location. Afterwards, Andreas Vierling explained how the IT Cluster Central Germany connects and supports IT companies from three federal states. The network represents 50 members with a workforce of 5.500 employees.

The following reception offered numerous possibilities to intensify the discussion with our speakers, the representatives of Silicon Saxony and the IT Cluster of Central Germany and the accompanying economic development agencies.
