13th Japan Germany Industry Forum 2017 - JGIF

The Ever-Evolving Energy Market – From Deregulation to Integration

Nov 21, 2017
Tokyo | Japan

Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) is delighted to invite you to the 13th annual Japan-Germany Industry Forum in Tokyo on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. JGIF is one of the most important events in the GTAI calendar. With an annually changing industry focus, JGIF puts the diverse and excellent position of German industry in Europe in focus for potential Japanese investors and partners.

This year's JGIF focuses on the German energy market with respect to the opportunities and new business fields for German and Japanese companies.

Germany’s energy market is evolving. One third of annual power demand already comes from renewable sources. Representatives from the German utility sector will report on the current market situation and highlight lessons learned from electricity market liberalization - a process that is set to reach completion in 2020 in Japan.

Germany’s “Energy Transition,” particularly the integration of renewables into the German market system, offers considerable opportunities for investment. GTAI will provide an overview of available investment opportunities and explain how we support companies successfully expand into the German market.

A Japanese company from the hydrogen sector that has already entered the German market will also recount their positive investment experience.

WindNODE, one of five important energy model regions, will provide a glimpse of the German energy market future. Located in Eastern Germany, the joint research project is focused on digitalizing the Energy Transition and provides rich insight into the energy systems of the future.

Projects like this provide vivid example of how Japan and Germany can learn from each other and find new solutions for an integrated energy system.
