On Monday, December 4, 2017, Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) held an exclusive investor event for Indian investors and partners at the Taj Lands End Hotel in Mumbai. The participants received first-hand information about the location advantages of Eastern Germany with a particular focus on the region’s innovative ICT sector.

Dr. Jürgen Morhard, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mumbai, gave the honours to welcome our Indian guests, followed by Dr. Jürgen Friedrich, CEO of GTAI who emphasised the Indo-German business relations and pointed out the attractiveness of the new federal states as a place for innovation and investment.

In addition to providing insights into current trends and business opportunities in the field of Industrie 4.0 in Germany, Asha-Maria Sharma, Senior Manager Investor Consulting, GTAI, highlighted how GTAI can support foreign companies in doing business in Germany.

Dr. Peter Homilius, Vice President Strategy/Industry Sectors/Marketing at the Saxony Economic Development Corporation (WFS), summarized the manifold reasons why one should choose Saxony as a first choice for setting up business in Germany and further provided an overview about the most important clusters the new federal state is home to.

Our testimonial speakers shared the professional and personal experiences they have made in setting up and doing business in (Eastern) Germany. Madhwendu Shekhar, Vice President and Regional Head of DACH at Larsen & Toubro Infotech GmbH, as well as Aloke Palsikar, Senior Vice President and Global Head for the Manufacturing Vertical branch at Tech Mahindra Ltd., illustrated their paths that had led into Germany. Both enthused about the many opportunities the German market has to offer in regards of long-term partners, customers and profits, as well as in connection to highly qualified workforce and the evident hospitality of the German people.

Bernhard Steinrücke, Director General of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, guided the participants through the evening and shared warm-hearted anecdotes from his experience as a German business representative in India.

The following reception offered numerous possibilities to intensify the discussion with our speakers and the accompanying economic development agencies.
