Day of German Unity Reception

On October 3, 2017, more than 2.500 guests celebrated the Day of German Unity at in the German Ambassador’s Residence in Washington D.C. With U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and Siemens CEO Joe Kaeser as guests of honor, this year’s reception was focused on the German-American business relationships. Among the other guests, there were also high-level representatives of the U.S. economy, think tanks and media.
As the embassy’s partner, GTAI provided information on doing business in Germany at an own information booth during the event. The GTAI Plaza hosted the stands of the economic development agencies of Bavaria, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
Musical entertainment was provided by the German Army Band and the U.S. Air Force Band “Max Impact”, which ensured a great atmosphere at the event. The guests could admire replicas of Berlin landmarks like the Berlin Wall, the Brandenburg Gate and the TV Tower and experience German culture by tasting the cuisine of different German regions.
Once again, the Luther Hologram, which was arranged in cooperation with the German National Tourist Board, was a major attraction. On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, a projection of Martin Luther talked about the major stations of his life.
